Enhanced conversions let Google Ads match more conversions to ad clicks by adding a hashed version of the customer’s email address or phone number. Google compares the hash with signed-in Google accounts – useful when cookies alone can’t connect the click and the purchase.

Set it up

  1. Switch on Google Ads Under Omea Consent › Integrations, switch on Google Ads with your Conversion ID (AW-…).
  2. Turn on enhanced conversions In the Google Ads card, switch on Enhanced conversions and click Save changes.
  3. Turn it on in Google Ads too In Google Ads go to Goals › Settings and turn on enhanced conversions for web.
  4. Map your conversions Under Omea Consent › Conversions, add your Google Ads Conversion label to each conversion that should count in Google Ads.

What Omea adds

With Enhanced conversions on, Omea passes the customer’s details to the Google tag as user_data:

  • sha256_email_address – the email address, SHA-256 hashed
  • sha256_phone_number – the phone number, SHA-256 hashed

It does this on two kinds of page:

  • WooCommerce order-received pages – using the order’s billing details, after checking the order key, so details are only shown on the customer’s own order page.
  • Pages viewed by signed-in users – using their account details.

The hashed details are printed into the page only after the visitor’s Marketing consent, so Google receives them only as ad data the visitor agreed to. Before that, the Google Ads tag follows Consent Mode v2 as usual.

Also in the Google Ads card

Pass ad click info in URLs when cookies are denied turns on Consent Mode’s url_passthrough, which keeps the ad click ID in links within your site when the visitor hasn’t accepted cookies. It’s off by default.

Check it

After a test order (with all cookies accepted), Google Ads shows the enhanced conversions status for the conversion action under Goals › Conversions – it can take a few days to update.
